  • Biography
Inspired by wild landscapes and urban life, I use a range of media and techniques to capture the raw, tactile qualities of the scenes I observe.
A background in figurative oil painting and life drawing has informed my current work, which has a modern semi-abstract and expressive style. A strong spacial awareness accompanies my passion for being outside, leading to landscape pieces, always inspired by land, sea and sky.
Most artworks are begun 'en plein air', in the form of sketches, photographs or final oil paintings. The paintings often convey a sense of 'air' or 'place' found in a particular landscape. I work primarily in oil, but also enjoy the physicality of working with zinc and steel plates to create intaglio etchings.
