Lin Kerr is an artist who lives and paints in her large conservatory studio in Oxfordshire, UK. She paints still life and landscape. Her still life artworks vary in size and the subjects are everyday utility objects, exploring vessels - bottles, jugs or bowls, sometimes with a seasonal wild plant; like a dandelion or summer berries.
She is currently working on a series of large vase and enamel jug paintings, where the object has a museum-like reverence, often with a detail such a lace cloth, the ironed fold of a cloth or the pattern on a vase. She collects blue china, old bottles, lovely vases and jugs.
Shadows, light and reflections are important as seen in Lin's landscapes. She walks daily viewing amazing cloudscapes and vistas of farmlands. Thunderstorms are a menacing purple, vibrating against vivid yellow-lime rapeseed fields in April and in May, golden wheat scintillates under blue skies, to be followed by harvest time. Skies and land are rendered in oils in impasto, thick brushwork, fingerpainting and a palette knife.
Kerr has a degree in Fine Arts, and has participated in numerous exhibitions.
