Three Commission Paintings, Before and After

Three Commission Paintings, Before and After

The paintings on the bottom row were three works in progress for the three paintings on the top row. I'll present the three on top to the client for her to choose from. The painting is for her sunny great room, and she wants the painting to have aqua, other soft colors and maybe an Adirondack chair. However, her husband loves the very dark red brick wall it will hang on. After much debate with myself on a color palette, I decided to let light colors dominate but use a little bit of reddish brown as a nod to the brick. Actually I ended up REALLY liking the palette. And all three paintings. (Acrylic on 30x40 canvases)

    HANDS-ON ART

    HANDS-ON ART

You haven't lived until you've put on a plastic glove snd slathered paint on a canvas. Who needs brushes, right? Oh wait, I did use brushes. Later in the process. I really like my hands-on paintings and use one as the lead painting on the home page of my website.

    ME NOT AT WORK

    ME NOT AT WORK

As you can see, I am posing, not working. That's because I finally got someone to photograph me in my studio! My neighbor stopped by to say hi. I stacked some paintings around me in a flash, forced my iphone on her and made her shoot a dozen or so photos. One was good enough to photo-shop. (Whew!) And my friend, well, she is handed-down, good-as-gold and makes me feel like I've won the lottery to have her as a friend.

    I LOVE PAINTING OUTDOORS.

    I LOVE PAINTING OUTDOORS.

Not painting THE outdoors, but BEING outdoors to paint. That's what I love. I mean, when I take a break from the easel, I just turn my head, take in the view and my batteries are completely recharged.

    GETTING READY TO PAINT

    GETTING READY TO PAINT

I love the morning after UPS stops by! (When you live in rural America with no art supply store close by, UPS is a very, VERY big deal.)

    Artist needs Photographer

    Artist needs Photographer

I have a lot of "work" shots but very few "me at work" shots. I asked my two studio buddies here to photograph me, but they assured me that would be above their pay grades and that basically they're just simple, fun-loving party animals.

    Figures in progress

    Figures in progress

Love my studio screens. They hide a lot of ills on the back side and let me hang what I need to work on on the front side. Kind of a business in the front and party in the back thing.πŸ˜‚
