About Kyle Hawkins

  • Biography
I am a landscape and portrait artist. I was born and grew up in Newham, East London.

I studied a BTEC Foundation in Art & Design at Newham College in 1994 before moving to Cheltenham to complete a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting at Gloucestershire University in 1998. I currently live and work in London.

In contrast to growing up in a very urban environment I have always been drawn to capturing scenes which represent space, colour and the natural. This was formed I believe by a combination of tasting the countryside in Ireland on regular family childhood visits and perhaps as a way of mentally escaping from the confines of living in a big city. My work is concerned with capturing these elements along with the expressiveness of nature and of us ourselves.
