About Kris M

  • Biography
Art 4 Homes assembles the paintings, prints, digital artworks and photography of artist Kris Mercer in one place.

Kris is mainly known for her representational artworks and keeps a separate website for these.

In her early 30's Kris took the decision to go back to school and succeeded in enrolling at Mansfield College of Arts. Leaving college in 1996 with a distinction, she was offered a place at Derby University but decided to spread her wings and migrate to Cyprus to pursue her art career.

There she lived on a small-holding with her daughters and concentrated on still life paintings, portraits and stenciling.
In 2000, Kris returned to the UK and decided to try her hand at monoprints, silk screening and abstract painting.

During this period she also took on photographic commissions and sold stock photos which were and still are featured in magazines, books, newspapers and tv.
In 2007 she took the decision to concentrate more on her paintings.

As architecture and people watching had always been of interest to her, she decided to investigate this avenue while continuing to produce abstract pieces.
Kris was then asked by one of her daughters to produce some artwork for a London flat, this inspired her to concentrate on London scenes for a while.
Today, Kris resides in Nottinghamshire and displays her art at exhibitions and juried shows .

In 2016 she was placed 2nd in the Innovative Art section of the American Art Awards and also won a Derwent Award.
2017 has seen her win a Clairefontaine award, The Artist exhibition award and have work in the ING Discerning eye exhibition.

Her working week is now split between doing abstracts and the pop art style paintings that have become her trademark.

Her work is held in collections in the USA and Europe.
