About Juliet Hillbrand

  • Biography

My subject matter is always nature, whether that is atmospheric pieces that feel like a nurturing ocean, or abstract forms that resemble topographic lines of mountains and rivers, or even my studies of nudity focused on the female form.

I use a unique resin technique that combines mixed media and experimentation. I freely play with unique materials such as ink, graphite, dried flowers and herbs. These pieces capture life and movement, where you can feel the life and dance of the brushes movement as it meets the cotton canvas.

Another theme of this work is contradictions. I love when a piece can draw you in even though you may not understand with words all that it’s causing you to feel. Some themes I explore juxtaposing are chaos and serenity, fever and calm, decay and growth as well as life and death. The opposition in balance keeps the viewer able to find their own story and connection. The collection is open-ended and other-worldly.

In just the last few years I have completed dozens of art shows, sold hundreds of pieces between originals, giclée art prints, expanded my art to fashion tees and more. I love escalating my creativity to unique challenges such as murals, children’s books, and in the last year around 30 custom pieces for my collectors. This year I’ve been featured in the 45th issue of Art Reveal Magazine in a 6 pg. interview, and later this year will have a feature within Studio Visit Magazine.

When painting, I seek to connect to something deep within myself, while leaving it open enough to take the viewer on a journey as well. They are able to get lost in their own world and create their own stories with each work of art. Art has saved me and all I’ve ever sought by sharing my art was to help do that for others as well.
