    Encaustic paint (beeswax and pigment) is melted on my aluminum palette at 185-200F.

    Using a Japanese baren tool to create a monotype.

    Working quickly I apply encaustic in its molten state to wood panels coated with a heat tolerant primer using natural bristle brushes that won't melt like synthetic ones. It takes many layers to create a painting and each layer is fused with a heat gun or torch.
