About Jonathan Wheeler

  • Biography
Jonathan Wheeler was born in Lancashire in 1958. His radical change of career from Oxford-trained physicist to Scottish-based watercolour artist began 12 years ago when he settled in the Highlands of Scotland with his wife Marilza. Jonathan captures the magnificence of the Scottish countryside and its heritage in glorious colour, using his very vivid and personal artistic interpretation. He intends to continue to explore and develop his experiences with watercolour as well as other media – in particular he would love to work more with figure painting. Jonathan’s paintings, prints and books sell throughout Scotland in over 200 art galleries and retail outlets – these include Historic Scotland (Edinburgh, Stirling and Urquhart Castles), The National Trust for Scotland, VisitScotland, Waterstones and W H Smith. His work has a natural appeal beyond Scotland and is often admired and purchased by those from abroad.
