Biography
I came to painting much later than most professional artists of my generation.
It was at the age of 10 that I discovered Lubin Baugin's "Still Life with a Chessboard" in my History book. From that day on, I dreamed of being a painter, something I was able to achieve at the age of 38 with the support of my wife.
Purely self-taught, I studied the numerous painting manuals signed by big names like Cennino Cennini, Xavier de Langlais or Claude Yvel, which gave me a very good technical base which I continue to deepen every day.
Working on transparency with glass or reflection with metal remain my favorites, even if I also like to challenge myself with other textures such as fabric, wood and other plants.
For this, I like to use the technique of the Flemish primitives of the 15th century with grisaille work covered with thin layers of transparent paint also called glaze. This old technique, which takes a long time to practice, still guarantees luminous pieces appreciated by collectors for their durability over time.
Artists who have influenced my painting are Sébastien Stoskopff, Louise Moillon, Jan Van Eyck, Osias Beert, Pieter Claesz, Willem Kalf and Jean-Siméon Chardin, among others.
With them, my small still lifes clarified the light I needed to grow as a man, while I tried every day to make the most of it in my paintings.
Today, I am still amazed and deeply grateful that more than 900 collectors in 39 countries hold at least one of my 2,450 small works.
My paintings are exclusively for sale on Artfinder.
You will find my quotation at Artprice and the I-CAC.
I also work to order and from your photos (animals, portraits, garden, landscape...)
