About Jacqueline Ruddell

  • Biography
I am an artist and photographer whose work is primarily abstract. I feel compelled to capture and create images which just seem to come naturally to me. My artwork is an expression of strong emotions and confusion of emotion. The multilayered nature of reality fascinates me and my work is like a jigsaw in reverse: a deconstruction of the whole in order to find the parts. "All is not what it seems" is a recurring theme in my work and I am inspired by my inner world as well as the world around me. My style as a photographer and artist tends to be more abstract, surreal and symbolic. However, I am also interested in the beauty of landscape photography and portrait work. While my quest as an artist and photographer is unique to me, my work explores universal themes such as, "the search for meaning in a complicated world"; "nature and soul searching"; "seeking out different realities and truths"; "finding a sense of inner calm in a chaotic world".  The collection "Into The Forest" is a series of images created from photographs taken in an actual Forest in Ireland.
