Biography
Ian Middleton's highly original work is semi abstract in formation, mostly combining colourful and imaginative use of shapes and lines with suggestive forms. These help to build a narrative for the picture. He defines his style as 'Rubistic Expressionism', a self coined genre. The composition is often close to geometric in composition allowing for a sense of overall balance and harmony.
The shapes invariably conceal images woven into the work alongside the obvious ones which will support his theme and provide a source of discovery in the longer term.
