    PAINTING THE COLUMBIA GORGE

I can't get any higher than the "Womens' Forum" in the Columbia Gorge in Oregon. What a fantastic view to be painting on such a day as this was.

PLEIN AIR IN MY SHIRT OF MANY COLORS

PLEIN AIR IN MY SHIRT OF MANY COLORS

I miss my shirt of many colors, but everything has had its day. This shot finds me in a "Paint the Gorge" artist invitational that took place in the Columbia Gorge in the state of Oregon. There is nothing like a peaceful place to paint while enjoying the sounds of the forest.

Plein air painting in the park

Plein air painting in the park

On a good day, you may find me doing some outdoor work in the local park or state refuge.. this shoe taken in Ridgefield Washington. There is nothing that equals good weather, and those good friends you brought along with you..the favorite brushes in your case. Also, the music of the outdoor critters beats the sounds of my studio stereo.

    My Favorite Place

    My Favorite Place

Although an occasional plein air painter, this is where I really enjoy putting the finishing touches on a painting. I work on a 36" square steel table with a glass top painted on the underbelly with a neutral grey. Compact and comfortable is it's name. Natural light is above my workspace.

    Time off for a showing

    Time off for a showing

The culmination of our "work" is to have a showing of the same. This photo was taken at the Fifth Annual Hanging at the Oak Tree show in Woodland, Washington. Sadly, this venue has been taken over by the local gamblers in our area. Card tables have supplanted our exhibit space.

    Mr. Big Brush

    Mr. Big Brush

This outing was a lot of fun. We are told to use as big a brush as one can handle for the initial block in of a painting. Well, I don't really remember how this event ended as I seem to have misfiled this painting somewhere. I think it will be back to the smaller brushes next time.
