About Gina Michelle

  • Biography
Gina studied fine art and majored in drawing, using pastels as her medium of choice, which she still uses today.

The abstract expressionists are the artists who she connects with the most - although her work is not strictly abstract, she looks to them for their work process and ideas.

She uses nature as her starting point, forms and texture fascinate her. She likes to isolate various areas and combine them, seeing what different configurations can work. Light and dark is also of particular importance, and she tries to combine all these elements.

Gina still uses pastels, finding them easy to blend - she makes use of her fingers a lot, blending and shading as she draws. She finds the tactile experience very necessary for the process and expression of her work.
