Galia Chuntova is a professional contemporary Bulgarian freelance artist since 1989. Her works can be found in private collections around the world, including Belgium, Greece, Italy, USA. She is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists and since 2001 she has worked as an associate columnist of interior design magazine “Ideal Home”.
Galia is an artist to her very core. Besides her serious academic training in textile and fine arts, her artistic searches date back in time. She has been creating art objects as long as she can remember, whether it is painting with oil or watercolor paints, printing her serigraphy, restoring furniture or crafting handmade products from paper, jute, sisal or other textile materials.
As a contemporary artist she is so versatile and diverse that it is almost impossible to label. Galia deploys surrealistic imagery, figurative style and pop art techniques, creating intriguing and memorable pieces. Her color palette is bright and bold, reminiscent to the Latin American artists. Galia’s paintings are visual tales, but she is not the conventional storyteller. Using dream-like scenes and symbolic images, she paints fantastic narratives to explore themes such as love, freedom, personal choice. Galia draws inspiration from her love for animals, travel, theater, music, archeological discoveries, meetings, memories and dreamscape. She employs personal experiences, mixes them up with her vivid imagination so as to render common things and places fabled, championing the poetic and the beautiful.
