About elske wilton

  • Biography
Years ago I was a Dutch war correspondent during the Lebanese civil war.  After experiencing the sorrow and destruction of so many lives,  I returned to the creative process of painting and drawing for which I had a passion since early childhood.  However I now wanted  to concentrate on the positive side of humankind,  to build up instead of destroy,  to show the beauty of nature and people.
I use oil paints because I want my choice of colours to create an atmospheric mood in nature,  the stillness of the day for example.
In my drawings I seek to capture the essence of the person. But there the approach is more sparse,   with one line of shadow saying it all.  It's this search for the 'what,  how and where' the fascinates me.
