About Ella Raphaëlle Dufrene

I paint in order to create a world I can live in. A world evoked by spontaneity, without fear of mistakes or accidents. Matter of fact, I seek mistakes and accidents, gracefully welcoming them as gifts of revelation. My intent is not to recreate or imitate reality. On the contrary, it is my greatest defense against reality, by disguising it into the way that I personally experience life without the consequences of not being “aware.” My art communicates ideas of euphoria, excitement, pleasure, and pain. It is about a world of imagination, a world of exhilaration induced by the injection of various mediums in vibrant hues.  My paintings are a reflection of the world as it is perceived through my eyes, and projected onto the canvas. My idea is that we never cease to emerge and submerge into one another. I experiment by playing with the texture and fluidity of my medium. I examine the way that different mediums dance with one another, pull in and out of each other. Similar to the universe. Enjoy.
