About Georgiy Kara-Murza

  • Biography
I would like to thank you for the opportunity to become part of your worldwide community of artists. Let me briefly outline below, why I would like to use your platform to promote my artwork. I do not really believe that art can be particularly effective in changing human lives or the mores of a society. Our minds, wounded by politics and devoid of lofty ideals, are easier impressed by a sense of grandeur or power than by beauty. My art may not change the world, but will at least remind of all those beautiful things that have come into being in the course of many centuries of existence of Russian fine art. With my art I try to develop and continue the traditions of classic Russian art schools. At the same time, I am proud of my ability to understand and absorb other artistic traditions, to welcome and develop synthesis of cultures in my paintings - I lived long time in Mediterranean region (I spent several years in Spain and eight years working in Syria as a professor of fine arts in university). In my pictures I try to preserve and show to the viewer the beautiful magnetism of old Middle East and its subtle, almost elegant, atmosphere. I really hope that my vision of the world, embodied in my artworks, will remind people of the most precious moments and things that we all cherish - love, inspiration and give faith in beauty of the world around.
