About Dominique Wilkins

  • Biography

I have been drawing or painting since I can remember, so art is really part of who I am, and each piece I create comes with the feeling and intention the piece was created from. Art is not just a pretty picture on a wall. It is a vision, emotion and message. It is a pathway to the world I have created, and helps you become part of that world, and hopefully take away a real appreciation for the world around us.

All which lives and breathes has a majesty few really see or understand. There is a spirit which needs to be revealed and preserved. My work covers a wide variety of subjects, but what remains consistent throughout is a deep love for life in its various forms, especially as revealed by the vast and amazing wildlife we have, the complexity of human beings and the land we live on.

I depict wildlife, or people in settings or places that evoke awe of that which is often overlooked or not appreciated. My style might be considered “raw realism,” which attempts to reflect the subject in its ‘real’ state while revealing its unique character. I hope that whoever views my work finds their senses awakened and are captivated by those things that go beyond the surface.
