I've been painting on and off since I was eight years old. As a child my father would paint at his easel and I would paint at mine. He taught me how to paint people in oils. I learned to paint from photos from him. In 2007 I was not painting or interested in painting but in one weekend all that changed. God gave me a dream where I was able to fly. I knew that meant I could fly as an artist. He made it very clear that I was to paint for Him. Up until then I didn't have the confidence to pursue my art seriously. I did know that I could paint for God and so I began doing so. Shortly afterwards I discovered a slick, synthetic paper called Yupo paper. I loved working on it because the paint moves on the paper and creates such interesting textures. I chose not to know ahead of time what I'm going to paint but rather, I let the paint on the paper inspire me. I eventually see an image in the paint and then further define it. All my paintings are now created in this manner. Many of them are faceless. If I don't see the features of the face in the paint, I don't include them. The person in the painting is no one, yet anyone. I listen to Christian music as I paint and that inspires me as well. I love being surprised with images that I know I could never predetermine to paint. Many of my paintings have been answers to people's prayers and greatly inspire and encourage others. May you also be encouraged and inspired as you look at my work. Each painting has a home or place they are meant to bless. Perhaps that home or place is yours.
