British figurative and landscape artist Dawn Rodger was educated in London and Australia and is now based near the Taw Estuary in North Devon, where she paints from her studio inspired by its stunning big skies and coastal waters. Her artworks reflect her preoccupations with light, colour, and an unobtrusive symbolism, with threads and folds of fabrics representing thoughts and emotions, animals symbolising absent friends and loved ones, beaches marking the space between the conscious world and unconsciousness, and stars and circles implying history, chronology and time. Through the use of texture and multiple layers of oil paint glazes, Dawn creates captivating depth and luminosity, infusing the viewer with a sense of calm contemplation. Following her survival of a life-threatening brain inflammation in her late twenties, her paintings continue to offer her a secret world of colour and motion to explore, free from the frustrations of daily life.
Dawn is an elected full member of the Westward Ho! And Bideford Art Society, and her works are held in private collections around the UK, the US and the world. Each artwork is signed on the front and comes with a catalogued certificate of authenticity attached to the back, carefully packaged and sent fully insured via a tracked courier.
