Venue: 511 Gallery, Chelsea, New York City, NY

511 Gallery is pleased to present AXIOM, a solo exhibition of paintings by David Gaither. Gaither is an emerging, self-taught, Georgia-based artist, whose expansive, tapestry-like paintings are composed of both abstract and figurative shapes in bright, saturated colors. The formal and symbolic experimentation in these overwhelming, hyperdynamic triptychs and tondos creates an elaborate world of Gaither’s own creation, somewhere between reality and fantasy. Gaither’s work is known for its large, immersive scale, vibrant, bold colors, and diverse range of iconographic influences.

Gaither’s explosive paintings envelop and transport the viewer; their forms are geometric and gridded, but various and inventive, and their bright colors vibrate. Each canvas is full to its bursting point. Gaither’s paintings simultaneously create and exist within their own dynamic dimension. His work proposes an alternative structure to the universe.
