The artwork I collect needs to fulfill two requirements. The subject matter must provoke an emotion (I'm an avid reader) and be aesthetically pleasing to me. This certainly met both. The texture created by the layering and blending of the paint just added even more to the overall beauty of the painting making me even more pleased with my purchase.

The painting is even better in person. It reminds me of my mother as a young professional in the 1950's.

Painting arrived promptly and in excellent condition. There is a bit of a high premium to get it shipped to the UK though so watch out for this. However, despite the shipping costs, the painting is quite evoking. I really enjoy the loose style and I think Darren is really good at capturing a sense of movement in his paintings.....you can almost feel the strain going through this mans back as he pulls the cart. Before joining the ranks of the typical 9 -5 office worker, I still vividly remember the feeling of getting up in the morning, feeling physically knackered, but nether the less, getting out there in the cold morning air to do anther hard days graft.....and this painting captures a piece of that for me.
