Work in progress in the Studio

Here another corner where I work. Here I quote my friend Robert Stark (my favourite painter still alive), as part of our exchanges, our conversations which maintain me alive as an artist when I go through rough spots: "It is clear you live inside your work and let it take you where it goes, that is not a recipe for commercial success but in the long run makes you a real artist." Clearly I make ART, not decoration, so sometimes I wonder if I am here at the right place, I want my art on walls, but not because it ties the room together like the rug in "The Big Lebowski" but because it triggers something strong within the viewers... I make art, and I can't decide whether or not my art is seen as only decorative or as a real artistic invention, something out of research and innovation. There is such huge thinking behind each of the painting I create. I guess I will share about thatin another post.

    Packing, learning a new art!

    Packing, learning a new art!

For paper works or whatever which will be a very flat material, cardboard, or cut canvas (without frame/stretchers), it will be packed in between a double layer of corrugated cardboard, the painted side of the artwork is protected with some special paper (grease proof paper usually otherwise it can be crystal paper for bigger surfaces). I include the certificate of authenticity, and all that is packed in kraft paper and entirely taped. If I ship two artworks together then I put a sheet of foam paper or a piece of bubble wrap in between the works, it depends on how it presents itself. As for bigger pieces, same as above, the painted surface is covered, the certificate included then it is wrapped in big bubble wrapping plastic paper, then packed with corrugated cardboard, wrapped again with normal bubble wrap, and packed again with corrugated cardboard, all taped then and ready to go :) I know they play football in the airport with our parcels almost kidding, it's basketball :)

    Surrounded!

    Surrounded!

I am glad to have large white walls in my living/studio room :) I live with my work all around, that is why sometimes I can re-work some paintings, I become very critique towards what I do while I stare at all these for too long. But it is very nice, it's a bit like being with friends for me, friends who are growing with me.

My second order, still shaking while I pack!

My second order, still shaking while I pack!

I am testing and improving my technique slowly with each orders that come in, let's hope for more because I start enjoying it a lot! :) So now you can see one of the certificate that I will send with your artwork.

Relaxing decorating a Birthday Card amongst my mess:)

Relaxing decorating a Birthday Card amongst my mess:)

It relaxes me sometimes, when I have time to do so, to create patterns for decorating whatever, boxes, cards, lamps and in those cases my Posca's are my best friends! All these little jam jars you can see, are mixtures of colours I create for my paintings in addition to the usual tubes of paint I have. I work this way for sometimes now. I think I turn with something like 60 jars, for example when I am into blue, it helps creating all shades with nuances, one with touches of red, or purple, adding a bit of white, and it goes on and on :)

    Here and there, everywhere!

    Here and there, everywhere!

My studio is my living room, unless it's the reverse. 85% of the room is dedicated to my painting. Gladly I am a single so I can invade the entire space in a messy way, it only bothers my two cats. :)

    Two Years Ago!

    Two Years Ago!

It was while I was painting a mural, a friend used to say, “trees are the magic numbers!” I believe it’s true. I adore the countryside, the greenery and flowers. Nature is beautiful to me.
