About Anita Pollinger-Jones

Much of my work is about colour and light - canvases layered, colour upon colour, layer upon layer. In nature nothing is ever really just green, just blue, just brown but a multiplicity of colours dancing off the surface to the tune of a different light, a different angle.
Primarily a colourist, my inspiration comes from a life of change and paradox.
I grew up in a small market town in Southern Hampshire and at 17 I moved to London to study dance and drama, be a Playboy Bunny and marry a world famous pop icon, have children, move back to Hampshire and study for a BA and MA in Art and here I am today, gleaning inspiration from the multiplicity of experiences I have enjoyed in the country and the city and around the world and from the multiplicity of artists who awe me from Chagall, to Millais, to Muerck, to Banksy, Holzer and Celdo Mierelis.
Drawing is a very important and much loved part of my art practice and every non-abstract painting begins life as a detailed drawing.
I am humbly grateful for the opportunity to express myself and re-explore the life that I have experienced through my art practice.
