About Anica Govedarica

The art is something inseparable from life. Primarily it is a way of communication. What I’m  trying to achieve is to explain to me, or someone in between, the essence and the reason of things, relive the pain, find a hope, explain the inexplicable, find  joy in ordinary things and places. I find inspiration all around me, in ordinary people, in everyday events, in the interactions between humans and animals. Even in most desperate situation I’m trying to find a positive side and turn things optimistic. Normally my palette is very colorful and bright. What is very important for me in the creative process of each work is to generate harmony. In my paintings I’m not trying to imitate nature, I want to create some kind of a narrative beyond obvious appearances, the kind I can’t express with words or simply represent with familiar faces.  My paintings are about people, even when it doesn’t seem so.
