  • Biography

Angel Gerdjikov is a Bulgarian professional contemporary painter with successful international career, great number of solo exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. His artworks are part of private collections around the globe. In 2020 he won the prestigious award Plovdiv in the category of “Painting”. He lives and works in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

In his artworks Angel brings that very sense of colors and harmony between them, which cannot be taught, one is born with it. The artist’s admiration of the power and beauty of nature seeks its peak in every canvas, in each storyline, and in every color. Angel’s ability to juxtapose the tones to one another and to create a natural, pure harmony of color, is striking. The peculiar stylization of images and nature create a unique artistry, originality, genuineness and sensuousness in his works. The compositional unity of landscape and figure is more than successful and allows the author to create besides scenic and other plans – emotional and life-enhancing. Each artwork becomes a painted narrative; a new imaginary human world is born, populated by musicians, tightrope walkers, poets, wanderers, collectors of miracles. The fairytale has begun and has no ending.
