About Alison Grapes

  • Biography
Originally from Ontario, Alison Grapes has lived in Canada's easternmost province of Nova Scotia since the 1980s. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University.
Having taught visual arts for fifteen years, Alison now dedicates her time exploring her interest in nature and the human form, sometimes using techniques where the shape and colour are created with cut paper.
Alison and a partner completed a Canada 150 project travelling the Trans Canada Highway. The 106 piece collection exhibited in 2018 in Montreal, receiving radio and print attention from across the country, including the “Billie” magazine from New Brunswick.
Alison’s work has been exhibited in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. Her paintings can be found in private collections, the Art Ontario Gallery and Colouratura Gallery.
Alison lives and paints in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
