About alexandra Pastorino

  • Biography
Born in Paris,France, I studied art at the Beaux-Arts School of Paris and earned a Masters' degree in Interior architecture at ESAT. For several years, while working as a set designer/muralist for French television and movies, I pursued my passion of paintings.
Since 1995, I had numerous exhibitions and shows in Paris and Los Angeles.
A painting for me is more than two dimentional surface.  My mixed media texture of plaster, marble powder and pigments combined with gold and silver leaves create a 3 dimentional effect close to that of a sculpture, which catches the light and colors differently according to the time of the day.

    Event: Californian Landscapes

    Dates: March 5, 2018 - May 26, 2018

Venue: The Coffee cup Cafe, 3734 E 4th St, Long Beach, CA 90814 USA

This series was inspired by her longtime fascination of Los Angeles and its surroundings, from the Pacific Ocean to the desert via the urban landscape of downtown. Her passion for strong color arises from deep blues of the night sky and oceans, the red of the sunsets, and the gold of the stars. The horizontal format of the paintings brings out the immensity of this American landscape. This complex city gives her endless subject matters for her paintings.
