Ever seen a flock of Northern Gannets diving for their prey? Diver-city is my impression of just one of these large seabirds (2 metre wingspan) hitting the ocean at 90 mph! The piece is in two parts. The 'bird' is made from ancient freshwater driftwood which has been washed from the peat after laying there for, possibly, thousands of years. The base is a section cut from a slow growing tree (possibly beech family) living in the same area of northern Scotland.
Driftwood tree root (scots pine?), beech family?
