During the Pandemic it came to me that my art was getting stagnant. I needed something new to paint. Thus i cane to see some photos of Shiprock Monument in what is called the Four Corners. Immediate fascination set in.
Ship Rock stands thrusting it's 1800 feet (7000 ft above sea level) with its sails (twin points) thrust deep into the sky, and spires flaring out to a base that is crumbling into the native grasses. Native Americans revere this stone monument. In legend, this was the great bird that whisked them all out a country filled with danger to a place where they could live in peace.
Geologically, it is a volcanic upheaval with several smaller stands that evolved from the tubes of the volcano.
Size: 30"H x 24"W x 1"D It will be in an upcoming Solo show in 4/2021.
Canvas on wood stretchers, Acrylic paint, Ink signature, Gel Varnish for protection
