This is the second painting I have done of this beautiful terrace in one of Edinburgh's most loved locations, the 'Stockbridge Colonies'. The Stockbridge Colonies are a series of 19th century parallel cobbled streets that were build for artisans and tradespersons. It was an early co-operative.
Reid Terrace is the most Westerly street and has the advantage of being right by the Water of Leith, a river. It is an idyllic situation, with the houses with their external staircases and individual gardens. I wanted to communicate how warmly I feel towards this kind of urban architecture.
Oil paint on canvas.
Framed and ready to hang on the wall.
