Words and expression.
I was lucky to see these beauties in my mums garden in past Summers. They love clay soil and I wished I could grow them. I was inspired to paint them and this I did during the hard times of Covid and lockdown.
Original impressionist watercolour on cold pressed watercolour paper 300 gsm 140 lb bockingford.
I drew the flowers out with a soft pencil and then filled them in gradually with delicate washes then more strength of colour. I wet the paper around the flowers for the background colour washes.
