A deceptively simple idea - a mother cradles a baby - executed in intensely contrasting colours. Underpainting of several layers is still visible in traces, but the dominant colours are royal blues, cobalt blues and acidic yellows. The mother seems engrossed in her baby, but the baby stares elsewhere - he or she engages and demands our attention, querying our gaze.
