This mixed media painting is an entry for the Artfinder project "Portraits from the Precipice." This abstract landscape painting was created with encaustic paint and image transfers of my photographs of Alaska. Inspired by a float plane ride over the melting Alaskan landscape in July, 2002 when the temperatures were extremely high. The local Tlingit people told me how they were forced to move their fishing villages inland due to the rising sea. Climate change has been affecting people for many years yet governments and industries have not taken meaningful action and some won't even admit there is a crisis or worse claim it is a hoax.
"Global Warming is Not a Hoax" by Joni Gruber, contemporary American artist.
