Self portrait, from an old pic shot when I was 6 years old.
The picture I used as a reference was taken by my father during an holyday at Lake Garda, while we were visiting Gabriele D'Annunzio's house. I tried to reconstruct my features by memory, since the original pic was very blurred and undetailed (it was taken with a lo-fi 110 camera).
The sentence on the upper left "avevo paura degli scorpioni" ( I was afraid of scorpions) refers to one of my greatest fears when I was a kid; fortunately, my cousin taught me how to see the beauty and the peculiarity of insects and aracnides, and thanks to her I'm not afraid anymore.
Acrylic and charcoal on deep edge canvas, 70x70 cm, ready to hang.
Canvas, acrylic, charcoal
