"Desert Showdown" depicts a Hollywood Wild West cowboy in a vast empty desert, with monumental sandstone and shale cliffs in the background and a longhorn skull in the foreground. In such a hostile environment the cowboy is facing his own danger, with his gun drawn ready for a showdown. The mythology of the Wild West is based on the tough, self-reliant individual who survives as best they can in the lawless frontier.
