Original artwork description:

My work contrasts the speed of gestural brushstrokes with the slow precision of hand embroidery to explore the many polarities we exist between. This study situates and expressive brushstroke alongside and a brushstroke that has been anchored to the paper by stitch, with cutouts and collaged bars of paintskin to the foreground further playing with spatial tensions. Discs of paintskin extend out of the borders of the painting, questioning where the edges of the work might be.

These studies are intended to be float framed, and with the extended discs remaining visible as an intrinsic part of the work.

Materials used:

Acrylic, collage, paintskin and embroidery thread
