Original artwork description:

The image explores a couple I saw whilst in town. I sketched them and set upon making this painting when I got home to my studio. I wanted to capture the sense of their equality in their togetherness - the sense of their belonging to one another, yet retaining an awareness of each of their own individual selves.

Through making portraits I explore how adding a mark, building up layers of colour, brings a wholeness to a completing image - allowing each mark to build upon the previous, whilst being able to flow without controlling the outcome in any way, allowing each mark to become.

Materials used:

Oil Paint on Canvas
