I met Anthony in 2021 in Leicester Square, London. Anthony has been homeless on the streets of London for a considerable period of time. I found Anthony to be a really warm and approachable guy. We sat and spoke for ages as he told me of his past, his friends on the street and all the famous people that he had met. He would often wink after every funny story that he told. He never stopped smiling, he never said a negative word and gave me warm and helpful advice about my art career and life in general. He is a person that I am proud to have met and someone that I will never forget.
I wanted to paint Anthony in a realism style and I wanted to paint every hair and every wrinkle. I really wanted to show the story of Anthony through this painting and I feel the wrinkles, the grey hair, the sparkle in his eye and his wink gives the viewer an idea of what a kind, caring and funny guy that he is.

My portrait style is hyperrealism and my aim was to paint every detail, every wrinkle, every hair of Anthony as they all are part of his story.
