Original artwork description:

I picked some sunflowers from my garden, put them in a vase and started an underpainting. I wasn't able to get back to my easel for some time and, when I did, I found that the petals on the sunflowers had started to crumple with age. I thought this made them look more interesting, and continued to paint them as they were then, rather than as they had been in full bloom.
I have painted the edges of the wrapped canvas so the piece does not need to be framed, but could be hung as it is.
