Biography
Vandy started painting in 2009 and in 2016 took on the role of Chair of the Society of East Anglian Watercolourists.
She grew up in South Africa and now lives in Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom. Africa still influences her painting in discernable ways: She loves strong colours and aims to capture a sense of space and light in her work. Recent works have also moved towards including textures in her watercolours to emphasise mood and create a dynamic element.
Her paintings have been described in the Cambridgeshire Journal as being filled with ‘Joy, energy and colour’. Her work is eclectic, covering a range of subjects and styles as she paints what appeals when the brush is in her hand.
She occasionally works in oils or acrylics, but watercolour is currently her preferred medium.
Vandy supports the charity Care for Casualties through her paintings.
Her works are part of private collections in the United Kingdom, United States, France, Portugal, New Zealand and South Africa.
