This work draws inspiration from the music of Philip Glass, specifically his piece "Morning Passages" from the film score of The Hours. I find the enigmatic and expansive quality of this music particularly captivating, as it opens up unique auditory spaces. While painting, I often listen to music—I love filling my studio with sound.
This piece captures the freshness of a morning, a time when anything is possible and humanity and nature coexist in harmony. It is executed in oil paints, which I prefer for their depth and vibrant hues, as well as the varied application techniques they allow.
